In the land of the barren and impotent
there was a king who could not perform;
his wife would not conceive and lay tormented
some royal families had gotten so infected.

They thought it was a conjured curse
they thought it to be a disease of their purse,
how could one not reproduce one's kind, was the ailment.
So they quibbled and accused each other
until the queen remembered a famous potion.

At once she went off to the lily of the lake,
the powerful flower bloomed in the most barren of circumstances;
and asked it to dispense with its vital fluids
that the throned couple could remain together.

There was one condition on the consignment of this liquid.
the couple had to rule with a fair hand,
there had to be free determination in the land,
the liquid was to be made available to all who wanted to conceive...
even to the bachelors of the court, if they thought
it was their need.

Great poem, Martin,  I want some of that fountain of youth stuff...but don't need any more babies...I'm too old!
