Dear Diane,
I share the memory of you
with so few people.
For I guard its secret treasure like a pirate,
I horde it,
I bury it deep.

I draw no map for those likely prospectors,
Digging for gold.
For they would plunder,
They would loot.
Leaving me a vagrant of loves' youth.

But sometimes,
On a rainy day,
While gathering quiet
and counting the pennies of the memories of you.
I ask you,
Can you guage its worth?
After all the spending of ourselves,
and the drinking from each other,
I wonder,
Did we just run dry,
or did we sell our shares to the greenery?

Now look,
Love is in the basement
with nothing to bargain with,
and the fool and his money has parted.
But can you blame me
For wanting to hold on to the money I have left,
For occassionally I still like to spend,
On these words,
For what ever they're worth,
Diane,
I still love you.

Mauddib, This is one terrific piece. I love it. It's sad, yet, direct and to the point. Sorry for your pain but it created a great poem. Cheryl

Pure poetic soul surgery. I do like the courage of baring it all. Sad, but your feelings can't be wrong, they just ARE. Enjoyed.

*sigh* it is good to share pain..sometimes in the sharing it somehow becomes just a little more bearable. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Wonderful writing, sir! Not only do the Aussies sweep the Golden Globes they write fantastic poetry, too. Is it something in the water?
