Sometimes I feel that Carol, nine
Sprang back to life inside me, here;
she lounges back on her tree-limb (tan and thin, incessant why?)
demanding: “Imagine – dream!
– dare all; live no half-life;
feel and taste the moment;
explore just ‘round the farthest bend
and as you go
look to see the way your moving feet
disturb the grasses; seek
some small flower or admire
the beauty of the grass, itself
(parallel converging lines,
green to green as yet unnamed;
a point no sword could match for fineness –
and on my tongue, the tiny textured barbs
oriented once to earth – the taste? Greener.)

Older, now, I’ve fallen and learned fear
my steps are careful, remembering in their caution
what it meant to fall…
Our task – our joy! may be to try to see what we once saw
Our challenge – knowing fear, we learn to walk despite it.

Oh, I like this one!!  Wonderful vision of life as it was so long ago.  There is nothing like looking at the word with the eyes of a child.  Truly amazing.

Welcome to Passions!!  I look forward to reading more of your work.

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

The images you paint are fabulous.  You've framed out a state of mind that I regularly struggle to achieve, and also, the one in which I fear.  Well written.
