Breezy, Queasy Day

the birds fly out
perhaps a score
in a spring-sky ballet

then upon the wind
to save their skins
return to branch and twig

a while more
fifty or more
extend their gran’ plie`

up they rise
a south reprise
then scamper home again

the breezes blow
limbs to and fro
make clinging tough, you know

escaping quaking
with branches shaking
seems the bent they try

but wind does howl
and whispers growl
binding them tree nigh

New Morning

gently
the morning slips in
softly caresses
my outer layer
massages
my heart
with tenderness
of life

it’s as if a whisper
tells me I’m right
right with my time
right with my place

the anxiousness
of former days
melts into the past
somewhere
behind the looking glass
faint of reflection
lost imperfection
beyond
my detection
erased to the grave

making this hour
clean
new
fresh
to begin again
as the creature He
called me to be

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
