~ promenade ~

a slip of the white glove
into his pink palm, fisted with crushed seeds
his eyes bid it welcome,
cheer doubled with a sober modesty
she has known sinister, but this gentle brother
has pardoned all misery long ago

he hides his head in curving wing
learning to fly without courage to fall
but somehow, he was valiant enough to ask her
to accompany him, to honour him
here are the eyes that penetrate past lies
locked and fixed like eagle unseen watching prey
noble hands that do not roam
grace in soundless pirouette's
glory has discourse without words

each song, to be plucked from the air
a lover's waltz, each note meant only for them
he left his watch at home this night
an evening that time cannot touch
- a first dance -

she will not sleep in the morning
replaying every sway, every carnation kiss
he will not rest either until she says
yes to another night

she shall not say
. . . no. . .
to a gentleman

~~~
ShadowRider...This was EXQUISITE!!!  Full of nuance and romantic innuendo. Yes...a gentleman is a real treat and a welcome breath of fresh air to a lady.
Bill:  there is value to being a gentleman.....even in this day and age.
and there are still a few left who remember why its important.  Like you, i am sure.
Silver Streak:  some long lost prom memories, well...*s*....maybe not lost anymore
Thankx S.Streak...thank you.
Ivy Rose:  ~Bowing to a Lady~  cause i knows one when i sees one  *s*
Those first real dance reminisces, the clothes, the first breath of perfume,
holding close.....those are still vivid, after all these years....
Thankx, y'all!  JkF
