Boot+Kitty=Poetry in motion

Old Long John has given in to the longings of Lorelei,
And has acquiesced to her desire to make me want to cry.
A new arrival has darkened my door with her flirtatious style,
Where there was one, now there are two females who make me smile.

Her silky fur, her playful ways, how she sits upon my lap,
Have endeared herself to this ne-er-do-well crusty scalawag.
And now my reputation has taken a sorry downward start,
As Musette insinuates herself into this rascal pirate’s heart.

She speaks when she is spoken to, and demands that I talk back,
She does not stand the silence well and goes on verbal attacks.
Her prompting is followed by soft purrs whenever she hears me speak,
“You are the prettiest cat I know; your fur’s so nice and sleek.”

“Oh, sure,” you say,  “You will backslide; kitty kicking is your fun.”
But I promise that I will not regress now that it’s two to one.
For Lorelei will keep me honest and Musette will work her charms,
It looks like my boots have been replaced by a welcoming set of arms.

Perhaps I can retain my reputation if I increase my booting rate,
Here in Passions where Musette will not share other kitties’ fate.
Perhaps I could write my senryus and Musette would never know,
That I still remain a kitty kicker where it can never show.

A purrfect name for a purrfect pet
you think we won't combine?
To show you you've succumbed again
to the wiles of both feline...

Lorelei, she's a lucky girl, Musette? she's lucky too...
For I hear a pirate's good for fixing up a helping of "Crow Stew!"

So the females in your house have finally tamed you. Congratulations to them!!!!
Would be glad if you'd come to Texas and kick out the cats in our neighborhood.

YAY!!! I love kittens, and I'm delighted to see one reach out to you and make you smile; maybe you'll re-gain your reputation, or maybe you just may fall in love with them! (giggles) We all love you so much, sweet friend, you are a  delight to us all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Mike, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

HA! I knew there was a soft heart underneath that big boot!.
This is fun, and loving, and hey, I could have told you that a cat will control your life so much more than you ever thought
(and once you pass one..you are forever lost..)

If you write your kitty-kicking poems here one more time
I have the perfect way to end your small career in rhyme.
I'll print the poem, mix it in with Musette's kitty litter
And she will read it while she squats and that cat will be bitter!!

So watch yourself, amigo, before tragedy befalls
Or else, instead of LongJohn, we'll be calling you Claude Balls!

here it is two am and Mike and Musette sleep soundly at my side (she between us).  They both get along just great.  The kitty acts like she has lived with us forever and Mike acts like it was his idea to get her..LOL..not really, but I am grateful she is with us. She is a Seal point siamese. We got her through the animal rescue league in Pittsburg

And tell him who says so!***

I can write the fur of cats in general but have to admit, I have 2 cats myself which my wife and kids adore.  I get along alright with them.  Actually better than I'll usually admit, but there is something that is enjoyable about downing the species as a whole that I don't think I'll ever quite relinquish.

Appears you fight that battle too sir, and I appreciate being able to see into anothers situation as well ....

Well I can't believe it, a kitty in your house!

This is wonderful!

I got a real kick out of reading this

Yay, Lorelei got her kitty!! See LJ, it ain’t so bad after all is it? I love the name for your kitty..how appropriate. She’s a beauty by the way. I’m sending you guys an e-mail I got from a friend of a cats diary. I’ll post the first day of it here, and if anyone else wants the rest, e-mail me. It’s hilarious.

A Cat's Diary

DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling
objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry
cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and
the mild satisfaction I get from shredding the occasional piece of
furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant and cough it up on the
carpeting.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
