Sleek condos touch the sky with glee
in this silvery city by the sea
bright lights and highways, everywhere
palm trees thrive in salty air

a swinging metropolis built on sand
a melting pot in a tropical land
clouds of pink, spread sunset wide
on glass-front buildings, are magnified

lush red flowers bloom all year
in this sundrenched salty atmosphere
shopping malls with the latest of fashion
pacify our retail passion

glazed white buildings on golden beaches
waterways and sandy reaches
glistening with sophistication
Miami, a sumptuous vacation

You make Miami sound appealing, I always thought that the beaches were less and less desirable than they used to be years ago...either way I'd rather be there than here if I could thanks for this sunny poem.

Madame - know that place you write so lovely about. Spent some time on the beaches a while back...

Yep, when you don't look too closely, that's what you see. Unfortunately those of us who live here sometimes get a different view

Nice writing, chipmunk lady. Look me up on your next vacation!

Very, very well done -- nicely structured, good rhymes, and you even managed to make Miami Beach sound great!

No matter what Miami's #1, a great place to visit, a better place to live. Great poem

Lyra darling girl Oh my I’m stunned with admiration this has got to be one of you utter utter best. Truly the line and flow in this is absolutely excellent.

I want to go there right now, but since I can't this has brought the sunshine and the sea to me.

You always are an excellent writer darling girl, when you write a place you are perfect. Utterly utterly wonderful

If you keep writing like this I shall start running out of superlatives and that would never do would it?

Lyra - It sounds good right now after all the snow we got last night.  Really good!  Great imagery and a great write.
