There is a winter river in my heart
It's cold and dark and deep
with a thick top layer of dirty ice
hard as marble
that just won't thaw
The rest of that beating muscle
The place of love within myself
is warm and fleshy, full of feeling
Missing you, wanting you, always caring
Yet, that river crosses through
with numb tingling, dead on rushing
headlong into bitterness with no refuge
My love and caring can't break though
the frozen ceiling, or rather, sealing
like a watery tomb, this feeling
is lost in the wintery river
of my heart

(big hugggsssssss) I can feel such sadness in these words, sweet friend, I hope all is great with you now and now your heart is a river in the summer warm with the happiness of love and compassion! (kiss on cheek) All our hearts are with you, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Bonnie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Well done,  I hope that the thaw comes soon

Extremely excellent writing on display here...a wonderful image of a heart filled with desire to love being trapped under the pain and heartache of bitter experiences. When love gets hot enough, the ice will melt

Bonnie - Sending a blanket of warm thoughts your way for this wonderful poem. Chris

chilling and powerful...the cold air of this room I'm in has become even more profoundly cold after reading of the winter river within you....brrrr

and the lovely contrast of the part that remembers that special person you're missing is superb.

Well done!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments! I'm glad this touched you in some way or another. I wrote this based on our human tendency to let past bad experience hold us back from truly, purely loving others.

Love,
Bonnie
