Assyrian Nightfall

Fox bark echoes in the streets.
Owls fly shadowed to hidden temple nests.
Barren fields envelop skeletal remains.
Judgement shroud descends undisturbed.

Sennecharib laments.Sargon weeps, unheard, unheeded.
Egypt’s conqueror conquered.
Babylon’s bane banished.
Persia’s persecutor prostrate.

Ninevah’s nightfall complete.
The body of history rests, flayed
Hieroglyphic tattoos tanned indistinguishable,
A memory of smoky hide.

A fresco of Euphrates silt
Swirled, twirled and unfurled to the world
Which stares momentarily, sighs and moves on
To the modern problems of Hemorrhoids;
Hammurabi set aside as just another pain in the ass.

BRAVO!!! Oh my gosh, I am impressed by the wonderful imagery and context you always put in your wonderful words, sweet friend, this is outstanding! It is just amazing how history can rest, but yet it always seems to repeat itself! (big hugggssssss) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is by far one of your utmost best!!! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Bart, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Can't help wondering what an Assyrian sunrise would be like. Enjoyed.

Seriously cute, Bart...I loved the historical perspective on the modern day problem.
