Words spoken in anger
Hot, hateful words I did not mean,
Regretted instantly, but unstoppable in flight.
Oh, why did I ever allow such a scene?

Words spoken in anger
Their impact revealed by your face, your eyes,
A look of surprise, then anguish from the hurt.
Why is it a woman doesn't argue, instead she cries?

Words spoken in anger
Fragmenting your trust in my ability
To keep you safe, loved and protected.
Please accept my apology for my insensitivity.

Words spoken in anger
No matter how I might wish it to be otherwise,
I know your memory is forever scarred by my anger.
Would that I had never uttered words you so despise!

HEG, What a perfect apology. Wonderful confessions of the heart. Amazing how powerful a weapon our tongues can be. I once wrote a poem "The Most Deadly Weapon" about the tongue. I need to post it here. It certainly parallels your feelings. Thanks.

You have caught two of the biggest mistakes any one can make perfectly. If one gets angry.. they need to mumble very low.. Great write and welcome to passions

Well said, well said!!! The tongue can be sharper than any blade and leave worse scars than anyone realizes. A very insightful poem!

*sigh* words have such power to hurt and cannot be taken back once said...if only we knew better how to restrain ourselves when angry the hurtfull words might not have come tumbling out. I hope all is well and you can find a way to heal the scars she feels. **big hugs** Welcome to Passions...I can see that you write from the heart and I will be looking forward to reading more of your work.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Welcome to PIP.  Good entry with a well written poem with more than a little wisdom contained therein.

I remember being told as a small child, Be careful what you say. It is so true, and speaking in anger usually ends up hurting  everyone within hearing distance. But sometimes forgiveness is only a breath away.

This is something I wrote:
Once the words are out of your mouth,
anger speeds them on their way.
And you can never take them back
once you've given them away.

Welcome to Passions! What a thought provoking first post.

Hi, All !

Boy, I am blown away by the rapidity of and number of responses to my first post!  Thanks to everyone who has commented and made me feel so welcomed. I appreciate your taking time to post a reply.  :-)

I have only been writing poetry since last August. I have been prolific, --I invite you to visit my website www.gillelands.com/poetry/ -- but I am still learning how to write poems. I welcome all the help I can get!  :-)

Thanks again to you all for the warm welcome!!

Cheers!

Harry - Well done!! Enjoyed and felt your bitter disgust for the words that many of us I am sure, have also let slip. Welcome to Passions! Chris

BRAVO!!! POWERFUL DEBUT, SWEET FRIEMD, THIS IS WONDERFUL!!! Sometims when we express ourselves the anger struggles to subside and we unintentionally injure others with sorrow; I pray that we can all learn to harness the power and control anger with comfort and justice! (sigh) Wonderfully said, sweet friend, I love it!!! Welcome to Passions, sweet HEG, may you be inspired by all of us here as we will all be inspired by your lovely words! (big huggggsssss) We all love you so much, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Welcome to Passions..Forgiveness is the answer to healing the root of the problem..if someone cant forgive than how do they expect God to forgive them when they need forgiveness..live and learn from our mistakes and try not to repeat them..
