hello everyone. i have a painting of an old farm house. here is how i think the family lived in this old house. hope you like it.

the farm house stands upon a hill,
it's old and tattered I see,
what use to be a place called home,
is just a memory.
mother raised eight children there,
life was hard back then,
but that old farm house kept them warm,
for a hard working family of ten.
they all got up at 4 a.m.,
to do their chores and such,
the cold wind made their faces freeze,
but it didn't bother them much.
papa was always chopping wood,
to keep the family warm,
and that old wind would howl outside,
kicking up a storm.
the kids always slept four in a bed,
one blanket was all they had,
but they never complained about a thing,
because their faith over came the bad.
mother would wash the wooden floors,
with a scrub brush, down on her knees,
and the kids would always play outside,
climbing the apple trees.
papa and moma both passed on,
and the kids are all grown too,
but they'll never forget that old farm house,
that saw a family through.

I guess it's the wholesomeness of this painted picture of words that makes old farm houses so appealing to me and to many Nice write and welcome to Passions

Hello Alice
Your words literally moved me to tears as I remembered my father describing life on the farm in his homeland of Sweden, just as you have done here.  So vivid was the picture you portrayed through your wonderful words and how glad I am that I found this treasured piece of writing.  Thank you so much for bringing back some special memories for me.  Take care.......Sue

Hi Alice!

One of your finest, dear sis.

So glad you're a smashing hit, here! Isn't it nice to have so many warm loving souls to write for? And I believe that most of the poets here are Christians, just bursting with God's love. Thanks for coming over, sis.
