In celebration of reaching my 16,000th post, I thought I'd do something different. Instead of reposting some of my work, I've linked several poems to lines (title of the poem) within this verse. Now remember, I had to use the title of the poem in THIS poem so if it feels 'jerky' you'll know why.

Writing poetry is just a question of freedom
For the person I want to be
I read the quality in your passion’s pen
And wish it was written was me

I long to find the right way
For my visions to extol
But it only seems to happen
In the nighttime of my soul

When I first joined Passions as
A retiring sort of poet
I was the woman in the corner
Shyly, posting, I really showed it

In darkness I brood
About poems lost to time
Words never written down
A rhyme without a rhyme

Encouraged, I learned to take a step
Outside my normal place
Prose became my second home
Still no one recognized my face

Can you guess how many times
I winced to see my name
Attached to some worthless poem
I knew my poet’s shame

I seldom think of the death of a poet
For their words will ever live
They hide where the fireflys never fly
Their lights ever continue to give

But my verses are a different thing
I wrote about the Zit and the pop tart war
So shrivel up this M & M Heart
I’m ashamed to write anymore

I cried when the Lone Ranger Died
I know it was bad bad thing
But I was at the First National Bank of Inspiration
And my fingers longed to sing!

I listen to my mentor’s voice
I hear what he wants me to hear
But no matter what he says to me
I ain’t leaving this place my dear!

Sorry I am late in my congratulations, but it seems I have been spending what little spare time I have lately CHATTING in this decadent little place on msn! tsk, tsk, to me! Congratulations my sister, and you get the "Golden Gavel" award!

PDV...I didn't notice any choppiness in this poem at all....It was actually rather awesome in it's scope and it's originality.

I especially loved

But my verses are a different thing
I wrote about the Zit and the pop tart war
So shrivel up this M & M Heart
I’m ashamed to write anymore

This...from a chipmunk who writes about laundry and garbage pickup.

So very well done, PDV...congratulations on your 16,000
