My homes in North Carolina the only place I know.
Its where my son was born and where I watched him grow.

The beaches are fantastic and the pine trees are so tall.
Its the greatest place to me so why don`t you come visit us ya`ll.

The tobacco fields and barns are now almost gone.
Cotton has taken over but I wonder for how long.

I wished farming would go back to how it used to be.
When farming and having a family is what people wanted to see.

But one thing that does still stand true.
The people are still friendly and they will always welcome you.

If you`re ever in our neighborhood just stop and sit a spell.
We`ll talk about the weather and hope you`re doing well.

We`ll talk about ACC basketball and hope you`ve liked what you seen.
So when you leave our beautiful state we hope you`ll come again.

Juanita darling girl I'll be right over. How wonderful is this darling girl truly wonderful.

So that's the surprise pressie and I thought you were going to send me Stevie, I've promised I won't break him, you can have him back later. it was Stevie Nan was referring to in her poem wasn't it? Of course what other dancing boy do I know?

And now I find you havce a place on the porch marked out as mine! Well, big kiss Thank you darling, but don't hold back with sending Stevie as well. But I've promised you I won't break him, Damm One day Stevie darling boy, I'll get you one day my little pretty, (You can just see me as the witch of the west can't you?)

As always darling girl it is full of your love and joy and I love it. Excellent writing dearest friend Love to you and to Stevie. Tell him to stop shaking like that, I'll be good (Honestly)

(smiles) Soooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, I dream of going to North Carolina so so much; I was in West Virginia once, is that close enough? Wonderful Juanita! I have friends in Fayetteville, (not sure of the spelling) and also not sure if it is North or South Carolina...but, if I ever go there I will email you first and stop by...take you up on your offer! Great poem!

Juanita, you know I love this, Lady. Touches my heart cause I'm North Carolina girl. This is one of the loveliest states in the country. Mountains and beaches, trees so abundant. What more could we want? Thanks for sharing our treasure. Cheryl

Juanita - Sounds like a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Do you know why? Because I would have no where to go to get my NY pizza.lol

Seriously, pizza or no pizza, your poem makes NC sound like a great place to be.

Now I will have to come up with a NY poem. With you and Lyra promoting your states, NY is going to lose even more tourism.

And let me tell everyone that Juanita is true to her word!
I went to visit her and she had the biggest welcome mat, I've ever seen!
North Carolina is beautiful and it doesn't need any special kind of pizza...it has southern fried chicken! and lots of frogs.

this is my first time reading anything of yours. and let me say i love it and you got a new fan. for i am from just north of you in the state of va. right on the nc border and i am there all the time. danville, virginia. your right about carolina. you have inspiered me with this peice. hmm i sence a virginia poem coming on

It seems like NC is still worth seeing. I have wanted to visit North Carolina for the longest time. The history and the sites I bet are breathtaking. Very good write about your home you love so deeply, Juanita

Balladeer,thank you so much!I love Maggie Valley we go to Cherokee about every 3 months.Its a 7 hour drive and worth every minute of it.
