Time Does Not Wait

Hour by hour, day by day,
Time passes by in a desperate way.
Minutes fly by, as do seconds,
Time waits for no one, to us it beckons.

When we are young, we want to be grown.
Then as we turn older " to be young" we moan.
Time can be an enemy, always ready.
It waits for no one, it's movement is steady.

Every second, not used is wasted.
Savor each minute, hold it and taste it.
Relish it long and hold it dear.
Live it with hope, and not with fear.

Time takes flight, travels so fast.
Never can you relive the past.
Hold on to each and every sweet essence.
Of time that you treasure, in pure acquiescence.

Along this road, will you travel no more.
Just one endeavor,
Then closes the door.

Floria, I'm always amazed when I read someone's poetry that so closely resembles something I've written. I enjoyed this and have written two poems with very similar themes. I'll have to post them later. Cheryl

No, it certainly doesn't and today I feel it slipping by so slowly, so thank you
for reminding me how very precious it truly is!

(tears fall down my cheeks) So very sad but true, sweet friend, time can always play cruel tricks on us, but as long as we cherish each moment and enjoy each second with a smile and dream, we will flow with the course of time in happiness! (kiss on cheek) I cried reading this, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Floria, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Your very right! Time waits for no one! This poem reminds me of how much of a procrastinator I am! I always wait until the last minute to do things...that's something I need to work on!

Chery, I am laughing, I know the feeling, I read two the other day on here, and if someone didnt know me better they would think it was plagiarism..LOL , they were so much like mine, many words and the theme, I feel spooked when it happens. I guess us poets all think alike. Please post yours, I would love to read it. Floria

Thank you Irish Rose, it seems when we want it to go fast, it goes slow, Then when we want it to slow down. It speeds up. Wouldnt it be great if we had some control over it. floria

Wonderful wisdom, Floria. I like to think that time is irrelevent in the eyes of God...he has a way of playing with it in our favor at time...otherwise : Carpe Diem" ...seize the day and live it to the fullest! Hugs, Ellie

Very wise.  I learn this to be true with each passing year, but the better I learn it, the less time I have.  Youth is wasted on the young!
