I know I've memorized your face
Each plane firmly fixed in memory
But let me trace it again like this
With slow caress of fingertips
Learning one more time your face
Just in case

I know the beauty of your eyes
They dance with mischief and surprise
They speak to me most eloquent
But let me gaze into those eyes
Look into your soul for one more time
Just in case

I know each curve and swell of lips
Moistened fullness a siren's call
Beguiling my captured heart
But let me press those lips with mine
Slowly, softly one more time
Just in case

I could look at you for hours
But somehow looking leads to ... this
As lips meet lips and hands possess
And fires rage that must be quenched
Breathing skips as does heartbeat
Bodies mould ... how well we fit

We continue this exploration
Tracing slowly down each place
Testing now with each our senses
Hearing, touch, smell and taste
An intimacy of eloquent expression

Riding each spiraling cycle high
Until wrapped in satisfied embrace
I know I'll never ever tire
Of learning you each day this way
Continued memorization
A loving education
Each and every time
Just in case

pepper...loved the form of this. The repetitive "just in case" was effective both as a warning and yet a reminder of appreciation of the "nows" of life. This translated as both a love poem and a mild anxiety attack (and I still sometimes fail to the see the difference between the two-- ) Enjoyed!

I have willed myself at times to memorize moments...just in case.  I really like the way you wrote this.
