Birth pains

"Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings." NIV Matthew 24:1

Look, Master! The House of our God is there
Majestically rising high in air.

"Do you see all these things?" he asked. "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."NIV Matthew 24:2

Every stone? Thrown down? None remain?
Will God strike men with such terrible pain?

'As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?"'
NIV Matthew 24:3

Tell us wise Master, as we want to know
The signs of Your Coming, where should we go?

'Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you.
For many will come in my name, claiming, `I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places." NIV Matthew 24 4-7

"All these are the beginning of birth pains." NIV Matthew 24-8

God swells in earth's belly prepares for birth
His Children suffer while still on dark earth
Disease, death and sorrow, torrents of rain
Are just the beginning of God's Birth Pain.

God's Womb on the earth expands with The Light
And soon brighter day will cover dark night
All heaven awaits the soon coming joy
Birth of The Kingdom with pure girls and boys,

With no more birth pains.

Silver, Very interesting interspesing the original text with your poetry.  I enjoyed reading it and applaud your concept and work.

One thing you may want to think about.  If you seek to publish these, use of the NIV requires permission as it itself is copyrighted.  I'm not overly familiar with all copyright laws and it may be that artistic use is allowable such as this, but I'd check and make sure.  If so you may want to use the KJV which is in the Public Domain.

Keep writing.  I look forward to seeing more.

Canuckster, thank you for your information about copyrighting. I was aware the KJV was in the public domain and thought the NIV was also. I only recently switched to NIV as NIV appears to be more authenic. I will definately check it out.

Thank you, Floria. I think the reading of God's Word is a wonderful way to begin anything. That's why I try to share a verse or more with most poems that I write.
