Diamonds On The Sea

Come, sail away with me
to the vast
of a lover's sea
to race the rush of reverie
and chance the ebb of ecstasy

Rapture plays among the tides
to ride upon a kiss,
we'll sip the wine of waves, divine
to dive in heaven's bliss

Through the cosmic coast we'll soar
to flow on dolphin's splash
and, to fate of kind, we toast
entwined in fevered flash

Then I'll slip into your eyes,
your breath,
your tenderness...
and sail away
into the day
through the flight
of deep delight

Come, my dear, sail away
to rest in Neptune's nest,
then we'll wing against the bay
for a bond so blessed.
With spoon of infinity
we'll taste the moistened sand
through the hourglass of bask
of kindreds hand in hand

You're the mirror of my soul -
the intricacy of me
two gems that shine with lustre
as diamonds on the sea

Come, sail away with me
to the vast
of a lover's sea
through the cleanse of divinity
to swim the ease of euphony

Yes, explore the all of me
and surf upon my sway,
sail into my heart, my love...
the stars in ocean's play

This is absolutely stunning! Great imagery and rhythm. You always write such great love poetry, and the passion just flows throughout this one.

Melissa, You've melded an image and romantic poetry very well here.  I tend to shy away from what I term as syruppy or exuberant types of poems like this, so I had to overcome some on my own personal biases in that regard to enter into your poem.  I found it well written with attention to form and detail and in the end, really enjoyed this which is rare for me.

Good job.

Thank you all for your generous comments!
And, thank you to Nan for uploading that picture for me, Jim Warren is perhaps my favourite fantasy artist.

Funny thing is, I used to roll my eyes at overly exaggerated poetry such as this, but, I've discovered in the last 2 years that I'm just a hopeless romantic...it's a beautiful curse, indeed

Melissa,
What a paradise you have created through the visions of the water's embrace.  You write so beautifully descriptive, I can almost feel the ocean's mist, and see the dolphin's playing.  A true work of art!

Melissa, if this is what is means to be a hopeless romantic, then long live hopeless romantics!!!

Absolutely exquisitely perfect!!!
