She held the letters in her hand
A tear falling from a cheek.
Wishing they had never been found
but so compelled to open them.

Who could this have been from?
A flame of passion from another time?
One who captured his love from his heart
or possibly something else?

The letters, now stained with fresh tears.
Clutching them so, trembling from the unknown.
Wanting to just throw them away...yet...
Needing to find out who...who else loved him..

Three letters containing words of love
of feelings and thoughts of just two
Letters given from one heart
to another in love that is true.

I can’t not open them, struggling in her mind.
I won’t ever stop my love for him..
Even if my fears are founded..
She grabs the letter opener...slits the first open...

Inside...she finds a beautifully written letter.
Only a woman could have written these words.
Only a woman in love could have written them..
Tears streak from her face as she reads...

Dearest Jack,

Even though I do so love you...
I know where your heart lies..
You have been so gallant, so true..
I so much admire your faithfulness..

Though I love you, I will let you go.
I know where your love remains..
I love her enough to not harm you, harm her.
I can never take you away..

Thank you for the honesty
I so adore your strength and courage.
Thank you for telling me..
For now I will let you go..

Goodbye Jack....
Thank you for being yourself
This memory...I will treasure

After reading this, she put them in the fire.
Tears flowing ever freely from her face.
Tears of joy,  tears of deepest love..
Knowing that he was still her knight..
That he had always been there..
Beneath the tower, faithfully guarding
Even through eternity...

It takes a very compassionate woman to realize that her Knight may be admired, loved, by more than her heart alone...that he comes back to his true love, is a story in itself...

I know a little about knights....I would never have had the courage
to burn them.  This is very poignant.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Barry, this is so sad and heartaching but yet so beautiful! (sad sigh) Such sweet compassion fills these words between distant lovers and it saddened me to watch the letters burn in the hearth, while the words echo on in a lovers heart! (wipes tears) I love it, sweet friend, you always write such classics with true emotion! This is fabulous! We all love you so much, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

*sigh* it took a great love for the other woman to let him return to where she knew his heart truly was...oh gosh this poem brought tears to my eyes as I felt the feelings of this lady as she received the confirmation that her knight is forever hers. *sigh* BRAVO!!! perfect ending. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

This reminded me of a scene in a movie I recently watched named "Amelie".  James

Oh Magnus!

I'm speechless! Perhaps this will say what my heart feels?
