In Your Poetic Mind

I remember when life
Was simple,
We sat for hours watching
Grasshopper’s spring
To new heights

Vocabulary was simple,
Easy to understand,
Innocent, and the only
War waged was that
Of how Rob could
Beat Walter in a race
To the ice-cream truck,
(I can hear the truck now,)
The laughter, the coins spilling
Out of pockets already too tight

Time was always moving
And though we didn’t
Mind, rarely changing

I remember the smell of
October, apples orchards
And pumpkin patches,
And snow falling gently,
Dancing with the leaves,
The long Sunday drives
To nowhere and how
The air somehow tasted fresher

And need we speak of love?
It could feel like a white dove cooing,
And the pain of puppy love can
Still be as vivid now as it was then

Time can stand still
Time can fly by

I need to be the lily in your storm
Where love's vast sea can not
Be emptied
Where
Time is a fire that burns within us

Tomorrow's another day
and I'm thirsty any way
so bring on the rain

not only the title, but the entire poem is a work of art.
And I mean that.  This is a treasure, you've said SO much
in this, Lauren, so much.  Thank you for this one.

Greeneyes - this certainly brings back memories, if good times, and not so good. Things were not so complicated, as now. Yes, time flies by, but also can stand still...

*sigh* memories of such simpler times flow through my mind as I read this wonderful poem. A time when honesty and trust still existed in such abunance that we could relax and let the small joys of life fill us. I love this poem and how it made me feel..**big hugs**

A lovely write, Lauren.  If I could, I'd wish to once again touch the days of my childhood and remember first hand how they felt.  *hugs* sweet friend.

you can capture a moment, and make it seem like a lifetime. . .

I've noticed that about you. . . wonderfully done. . .

Greeneyes, time, like waiting for the grasshopper to spring, is precious.  I loved the pictures you painted with your words.  Thanks for sharing,  ME

The days...back in the days when...

You have captured it well...I had my own
days like this...only a little further
back...maybe a lot further back...but
times were the same then...sadly not so
now...

Thanx for this piece of life...
