From this link to FoxNews, it seems KMart may have to close some of it's stores.

This is my poetic challenge poem:

A place of childhood fantasy
at cost we could sustain
looming large in my heritage
at the corner of fifth and main

As I grew up it comforted me
gave me more for every dime
but this has changed dramatically
as everything does with time

No longer will I stand in line
listening to registers shout
things have changed in shopping land
the blue light has gone out.

This is very well put, and so true Sharon.  Most of the K-Mart outlets, if not all of them closed in Canada a few years ago and they are missed!  Those stores were jam packed with so many memories....those blue light specials are now a thing of the past in Canada.  Dry your eyes and I'll put another 50 cents in the horse for you to ride.

I think Wal-Mart is responsible for more than K-Mart going out of business. Remember when Sears used to be the place to shop for everything you need? Now it seems as though Wal-Mart is the place to go...at least it's that way here in Kentucky. Yep, I remember those blue light specials...dashing through the store...smiles. Good poem...love your writing style

oh man, I love Kmart and wal-mart. I always go to Kmart and get great bargains.
I will miss it very much if the one by my house closes!! I refuse to shop at sears and pay twice as much for the same things that kmart and wal-mart sells for less!

(big hugggsssssss) Oh no...this is so sad, I couldn't help but cry reading this for I too remember so many times going to K-Mart to buy snack foods, water guns, apparel, and toys with my family as a boy in K-Mart, and still stop in today sometimes! (sad sigh) I hope this store closing is not as bad as I think of it being, for this store has become a cornerstone of all our American society! Sooooooo heartfelt, sweet friend, I pray that these blue light specials will continue to shimmer and siren off! We all love you so much, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Poet deVine - I've always loved shopping at K-mart. But alas, they have taken it almost into ruin, as so many before it...

*sigh* the KMarts here went into history several years ago...I miss them as a place I loved to shop and where fond memories were made...I too think Wal-Mart has replaced most of the stores we once had. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

I'll take the Blue Light Special over that Smiling Face with a sword any day!!!

ah yes, as a former member of the retail shopping community (I worked in a Hills Dept. Store for 18 months before it closed), I know all too well what can happen. . . it would seem that the Waltons (and not the kind you see on TV) march on. . .

well done. . .

Poet De Vine,
I loved this...What's a Kmart? Is it some sort of endangered species?

LOL...Sharon, I've gone to call the manager because you have been on that horse since early this morning and...
I didn't realise you had your foot caught in the stirrup!
I'm headed over towards the final blue light special of the night!  Nancy.

Hi Poet deVine,

This was great and sad cause I grow up with the big K as well, I have not heard anything like that of yet, but the one in our town is very run down and not a very safe place to go because of where it is, wonderful job,

Love, Cerenity
