*This is the Opening Hymn from Mass for Peace In Our Time*

O let us sing unto our God
the God who gives us peace
and let our prayer be on this day
that soon all war shall cease
for the God of peace fills our hearts with joy
and frees our souls from fear
so let us join hand in hand
with all our brothers here

for the world right now is filled with strife
and peace seems far away
but if we speak out with voices of life
then peace will reign one day
and on dove's wings our prayers will fly
to God upon His throne
who in His wisdom hears our cry
and comes to share our home

let now the time of war be done
let the time of peace begin
and may God give to everyone
His calming strength within
for the strength of God gives to all mankind
the gift of peaceful sight
that sees beyond divisions dark
and brings all to the light

for long did darkness reign on Earth
until one fateful eve
when He came down to us by birth
true peace He did achieve
"Blest are they who work for peace"
He spoke upon the Mount
"the earth shall be theirs without lease
and blessings without count"

then let us sing now with one voice
this hymn of peace and love
and may it be heard round the earth
and fill the skies above
for when ear is done and peace is ours
then happy we shall be
for peace shall reign down here on Earth
for all eternity

AMEN

The choirs sound rather angelic today Sven.
Peace to all mankind......Beautiful words dear friend.

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

A beautiful poem about peace, and although we don't have peace in this world, I'm thankful for the peace in my heart. I pray for world peace...a day when all nations can live together in peace, love, and harmony. I love your poem so much...thanks for sharing.

Sven - If only the world could adhere to the message of this hymn, but I don't think humans and peace are compatible.  Nice writing.

This is a beautiful wonderful piece, John.  Very nicely written and expressed.  I always thought you had a talent for hymns from way back when we first met.  Excellent!

Congratulations on 13,000 here.  That's quite an accomplishment.
