That Sapphire Wind

The sky is alert with a sapphire wind
that has cleaned the ridge
torn the yellow leaves
as all the waters fluff up
and slap the air with surprise

A whisper storms across my skin
nudges my dormant with ions
spreading down the canyon
in a golden dusting of passion
that lifts like spirit water
and fills my empty

I see from the window a dance
that pirouettes across the garden
I walk into it with my eyes shut
and feel the wings of exuberance
blow across my mind

Carry me across the meadow
where the earth has scattered seed
skipping with delight my hands holding revelry
across such miles as we are bound
the wind the wind takes me

twirls my dazzled eyes to you
opens my gown around me
so you can see my blushed significance
for I can climb the sky
filled with the sap of spring still
not folded or crunched in lack
but displayed and colored with chameleon

Will you come with me across the narrows
down the path into the glen
and pull my dainty dancing slippers off
and touch my soul with your wonder yes
for I would be your soft air
in mold around your swift rising breath
until the night clothes me in chill
and you cover me with feathers.
____

rewrite from 11-2000

To decorate this aging
is no longer possible, but the wind
knows, just moaning in the afternoon
changes the listener.

Something I have always wanted to be, was dainty...but since I am not, I shall just enjoy the fact that you are, but your writing...it is....magnificent...

Sigh Martie....You are totally amazing. I love how your writing makes me feel. I loved every line but especially this......

Will you come with me across the narrows
down the path into the glen
and pull my dainty dancing slippers off
and touch my soul with your wonder yes
for I would be your soft air
in mold around your swift rising breath
until the night clothes me in chill
and you cover me with feathers.

I hate to "ditto" Sunshine, but yes, dainty is something I too will never be LOL, but I think your writing is so delicate, feminine, and oh so vividly clear in its images, and I will never, ever get tired of reading anything you write for I am always better for having read it.  This was no exception dear Martie.
