Nothing To Lose

The joy of the dance has gone out of my soul,
The beat of the drum disappeared.
The sweet harmony that my heart always heard,
Has turned old and now wears a beard.

For sorrow has set deep inside of my being,
And nothing appears as it should.
When sadness took over the life I had known,
I tried to go on best I could.

The music has left the sweet smile on my face,
The look of depression set in.
Then what will it take for this sorrow to leave,
And again on my face wear a grin?

Nothing can bring back the joy that I had,
Or the love that once I had known.
Never again will my life be the same,
My sadness is now etched in stone.

Faith in my God I never shall lose,
I still grieve my son, always will.
And though I do love you, my Savior and Lord,
My happiness now has been stilled.

So I'll fill my soul with all of Your love
Till there's no more room for the pain.
And I'll trust You Lord to see me through,
I have nothing to lose, all to gain.

Floria

Floria,
We have no idea the pain that others bear until...  You have the only lasting solution there is. I'm so sorry for your loss and know from others that you reflect that common thread of permanent loss so well. Thank you and God bless you friend for this keeper.

A friend from India told me that we should multiply our love and divide our pain. Thanks for sharing yours with us, Floria. May God bless you abundantly and fill your emptiness with eternal joy as only He can do.

I'm so sorry for your loss...hugzzzzz...I have two sons and I know the loss of either would take all joy of this life from me. All we can hang on to sometimes is that peace and love that surpasses all understanding that only comes from the Lord...and the love and hugs of good friends. May God bless you and may His love and peace heal the wounds in your heart. This life is so short, just a vapor, and you can rest assured you will be reunited with your child for all eternity.

My heart so feels your pain, for i too have lost a child, my first born daughter. Writting has always help to ease the pain and God has blessed me with 6 wonderful children. Faith has always been the greatest gift!Your poetry is so lovely and aren't we gifted with it as a source of healing our hearts and others? Hugs, Ellie

(big hugggsssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is so sad but I know deep down He will always be there to comfort your son and his sorrows will be replaced with hopes, for I too am coping with the same crisis right now with my cousin Teia, who got raped at age 9 and I have been slowly helping her heal and reminding her how much we love her and God loves her! (sad sigh) My heart cries out to you, sweet friend, you are a true angel to us all, and we are all so proud of you! We all join you in your prayers, sweet friend, for He is always here and we have nothing to lose! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Floria, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Many times I have abandoned my faith, not resting in the assurance
that I know I have and every time He draws me back to remind me
of how very much I need him.  I know about loss, as many do, and I know
about emotional loss, losing something and nothing about it makes sense.
Sometimes prayer seems to be a vacant attempt you feel you do not hear
the voice "at the other end of the line" sometimes you feel completely and
utterly alone, as if nothing or no one would understand and when they try to
you, in grief, begin to even question that.

This poem is completely emotional on every level and speaks with powerful
emotion about the very core of what you feel.  No one could write something like
this without faith.

For that reason alone, you are blessed.  The most serene joy I ever
experienced in my life was the joy that came after the most horrible
tears and pain suffered.

I personally, believe we are waiting for "morning" for that morning joy.

And in the evening of our verse, we write of the emotions that have
changed us all and will continue to change us as we survive.

You have my heartfelt prayers and condolences for the things you've touched
on in this piece.  And you have my respect for the courage to write it
without holding back.

*sigh* tears for you loss and pain flowed in my heart when reading this poem. The only thing that I can say is that He understands your pain and will heal it...someday you will be reunited with your son for eternity. **big hugs**

Some tears fell as I was reading your beautiful poem and the wonder of your faith. I was equally touched by those who have had a similar experience as have many on this forum, and Kathleen stirred my soul with her response.Your words are well strung into phrases that depict your heart and your sentiments and love.May you continue in your writing talents, projecting the beauty of your soul. Thank you for this inspirational poem

Irish Rose, you have brought tears to my eyes. What a heartwarming reply. Oh yes, I lean on Him, every second of every day. that is the only way I could get through this. Yet, the pain comes back from the loss, the missing him..because it was so quickly. I was not in the least prepared. and I know without a doubt that my George is with God. But I still miss him. As far as sharing. What good would writing it be, if I hid it away. My husband is not dealing with his pain, and he will not read my poems. I on the other hand am so comforted by writing and sharing them with dear "friends as you" thank you , it helps to hear your kind words. floria

Liz, thank you, so much. Since losing my son was what inspired me to first write, I see it as a gift. A gift that is seeing me through.
Humble as it is, I am able to express my grief and it is very healing. I love all of you on this board. You are all wonderful people. floria

Floria, this is so heart felt and emotional. There’s nothing I can say to ease your pain, but I’m sure your son is looking down on you and watching over you now in heaven. I wish you the best in dealing with your loss, and yes, maybe the writing is a gift that has come from it. I'm sure your son is very proud of you.

floria, I think that you are doing the right thing by writing it out the way you are. That's one of the releases a writer has. I symphathize with your husband who does not have that option. I wish you both comfort in your grief....
