He loved her from the day he was born,
He needed her from night to morn.
She needed him like she needed breath,
His love continued beyond her death.

He mourned her throughout his empty days,
He mourned her in those loving ways,
For she'd been the reason for his heart,
And now she'd taken the loving part.

He mourned the sound of the meadowlark,
That once sang to them in the park
As they held hands and sweetly kissed
Believing eternity had given them this.

He mourned the warmth of the sun's rays,
They used to share those sweeter days,
As they lied together in the sand,
She on his chest, stroked by his hands.

He mourned the light, cool evening breeze
That played softly through the shading trees
Where once they planned their life together,
With children and a love forever.

The days grew long, and the nights grew longer,
No other love could have been stronger.
So he lived alone for those long years,
And died of drowning in his tears.

The meadowlark still sings her tune,
The sun still warms lovers in mid-June
The trees still whisper in the breeze,
Though his love lives, the tears have ceased.

But - The love is still there.

Good lord, LJA...I've seen you do funny, loving, and now seriously tender...and you have Marsha's address for us to send her boxes and boxes of hankies, yes?  She will need them for this one.

When did you learn to be so giving?

Thank you, Deca, for those kind words.  At this rate, I'll be writing sweet poems about kitties pretty soon.

Long John oh my goodness me, you Utter utter wretch, HOW COULD YOU? This is utterly utterly beautiful and soooooo incredibly sad that I'll never get the tearstains off my face.

Long John darling boy What did I ever do to be so persecuted? Did I run amok with the vikings, in some previous existance did I cause untold grief? Well, I only hope I enjoyed it because NOW I'm suffering. Oh dear LORD whatever I did I'M SORRY. And I promise I'll never do it again.

Wonderful writing darling boy but truly did you have to make me sob my eyes out.

I'd threaten retribution but Nemesis has walked off and taken the Witch of the Web with her.

Love and warm stuff

Mushy - Thank you for not taking retribution - you should never have let me know you were vulnerable.  Now I have a new kitty to torment - heh.   Unfortunately, I have to be mushy to be mean.  It is indeed a cruel world.

wonderful writing...but don't be misled
He's not as "darling" as Marsha said.

He'll  kick little kitties when they are down
And believe you me..I'll make him frown.

We are getting a kittie next weekend I pray
A "darling" little Siamese girl; HURRAY!!
ps...her name might be Lorelei

Long John,
YOU WRETCH!
Just whan I think I've got you figured out you go a pull a 'snag' on me. I will not easily forgive you for this.
Don't you worry about Marsha's retribution worry about mine for making me cry buckets.
