This didn't go like I wanted it to, so will have to try again. I wanted something really fun for kids to read, recite and enjoy.  Also, I wanted something that could be delightfully illustrated. But here is this, anyway.

How do you occupy and octopi
or reconcile a crocodile?
How do you venerate an alligate
or give propel to a sleek gazelle?

How d’ya show your care to a grizzly bear
or make a pet of a marmoset?
Can you imagine that with a jungle cat
or set a date with a rattle snake?

Would you give a hug to a slimy slug
or throw a kiss to a tall ibis?
Give a fond embrace
to a giraffe with grace?

Would you sigh and pant
for an elephant?
Could you serve up lox
to a desert fox?

Would you bill and coo
while you’re at the zoo,
breaking all the rules
showing you’re a fool?

How would you disembark
a great white shark
or sing a song
while he bobs along?

What would be the way
that you’d give sway
to bright’ning up
ev’ry day by day?

With caffeine in your cup;
and kibbles in your pup;
a bit of sweet k’nish
in your angelfish. . .

Surely that’s the way
to charm a manta ray
and give fine energy
to a honey bee.

Try your best my friend
from now until the end
and I will dance with you
neath clear skies of blue.

Once I thought of writing children's poetry, Virginia, I really enjoyed this one
