*This is a translation from Russian of a poem by Andrey Voznesensky, originally written in 1957.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m Goya!
On the barren ground,
        a raven gobbled down my eyeballs gorily.
I’m worry.
I’m the voice of
The war; the debris of cities
        destroyed in the snows of the early forties.
I’m drought.
I’m the throat
Of the woman hanged, whose body above the courtyard
        continued to beat like a church-bell, gnawing.
I’m Goya!
O, Grapes
of Wrath! With passion, I heaved to the West
        the ashes of guests unwanted!
The stars that I nailed into memorial skies continue glowing.
I’m Goya!
Master,
Does this mean you wrote this or you translated it...either way its very good.
Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
