Tompkins Hill Road

The Alder trees
   All leaf lost
Thatch the air
  Their twigged touch
Covered with a carpet
  Of magic mood moss

In the late afternoon
  Fairies toss
Their bell like laughter
  Across the sand dunes
Into the surf

They curve around the minute
  With sweet winter breath
That finds the joy
  Of all seasons

For a moment
  On this winter afternoon
I find it too

There is magic in your words, Martie, and we have missed the sparkle...

Martie, your writing is always incredible and never ceases to blow me away.  The imagery in this is outstanding, unique, and beautiful.  I loved the whole concept, but especially the lines :"Their twigged touch
                              Covered with a carpet
Of magic mood moss"  Gorgeous words, Martie.

Martie,
I love all your words, but in this one I felt sorry for the serf who had all those bell like laughs tossed into him.

I guess nature poetry has always held a special place in my heart,
especially this week, which is the dead of winter in that heart
and I dearly enjoyed this.

You really brought that scene to life, Martie in a very beautiful way.
Excellent writing!

it's a picture that's frozen in time. . .

one that I can look at over and over again. . .

well done. . .
