Mud brown waters by the sand.
Wirling edies in this pan.
Gold and rubies I did seek,
till the rocks themselves
to me did speek.

I may be mad now.
How would I know,
Because the earth talks
and the snow?

Many Jewels I have found,
mounds of Gold all around.
Still I linger by this stream.
Wirling edies, specks that gleam.

Now the treasure that I sought
has turned to rust, begun to rot.
As I store it, pile it high.
THE ROCKS SUROUND ME,
they ask me why.
The snow, it laughs, blowing down,
to see me here bent and brown.
Age crept up, time worn in,
muscles withered, gaunt and thin.

Take the wealth, move on south,
some where warm, cosy house.
Would that I could carry it!
So here I'll stay, here I'll sit.

One day soon they'll find my bones.
Maybe then, maybe then, I'll go home.
