On a white steed I mounted
fully prepared to hold on for life.
But life lied, inside the circle
of my arms, I found nothing instead.
My pen took the bit and ran until the ink
and I bled dry.

And when in the spotlight
I (and of course you too)
got caught, I wrote about all the
nothing's you did
to back away from the
blinding brightness
of your lies.

For validation's sake
I refused to write about
the nothing that I felt
from his touch.

After wrestling life's decisions
and dictations, until I was too worn
to argue any more, I accepted an unquiet
defeat. With nothing else left but my pen, I ranted,
I raved, I wrote.

Failures crumpled in a tight angry fist
black and white, I longed to deny
but with all of my writing
I had nothing left
to hide.

About nothing I have written
attached adjectives to nouns,
to make them sound pretty,
made my verbiage dance
with adverbs a plenty.
I dangled participles when
nothing should have been quiet.
I filled page after page when
nothing was insatiable.
I led you along my lines
leaving nothing unsaid, proudly,
letting you feel my nothing
too.

When questioned, oh poet,
now aged and withered,
with nothing left to keep you here,
of what, we pray, will you write?
Into my emptiness I shuffle
and say softly with less
and less conviction
I shall no longer write about
what's between here and there, what's left
and what's gone before.
I say three cheers to territory
yet undiscovered
I have had nothing enough
to say of yesterday
from now on
I shall write nothing about
tomorrow.

Ah, Jellybeans!  I always thought you were a brilliant writer.  And I was right.

You keep writing about nothing, and I'll keep reading it...deal?  Deal!

You already know I love this... but I've never had a problem with repeating myself... especially not when praising excellence. *S* Each reading is a venture into sheer pleasure in spite of the sad tone, because it brings new discoveries and appreciation of your talent. But if I had to pick my favorite lines, it would be these... for when you hid nothing, I gained a friend. *S*

I think something happens to a person when you read it back to yourself
and I think that is why I still continue......
