The faint essence of a wilted rose
lingers within lost dreams
crushed between thorny pages
is the aroma of our love

A taffeta ribbon of memories
dangling in meadows of my mind
untie these breathless memories
strangling the night

Let them drift in the wind
like a golden kite soaring free
but still tangled within
the naked branches of my heart

Taunting winds whisper your name
laughing within tassels of ginger hair
running across bluegrass of yesterday

Upon the midnight sky
is a starry kite of reminisces
drifting by a wilted moon
finally, letting go of your kisses

You know I was just thinking about kites today, honestly,
and that last line is wonderful.  I enjoyed the free feeling in this.

Victoia~This is such a beautiful piece I should not even try to choose my favourite lines and stanzas.  So full of beautiful imagery, and oh so softly spoken.  Love it!

I love your beautiful imagery in this one, Victoria.  In just a few more weeks, it will be kite flying time.
