This year
I made a promise
to myself
to be as comfortable
in my own skin
as I possibly can

while I am still
able to see
the winter feathers
lithely cling to my hair
melt in my catch
eyelash the air

keen enough
to sense the rain
in the distance
of electric blue skies
waiting on porch steps
playing in the first drops
of clear lacquered spring

sensitive enough
to feel a sun ray
spend itself across my face
and know who it is
with closed summer eyes
as my expression reflects
how much I’ve missed it

vibrant enough
to allow my dress
to pinwheel in the wind
as autumn throws leaf roses
at my feet
completing me
and my seasons
ethereally as one

me thinks"keen" is the perfect word to describe you and your poetry....
and clever and insightful.
You  worked the imagery and analogy of the seasons to poetic perfection here Regina
and added wistful wisdom of a woman coming into her own.
Dig the skin you're in ... you wear it well

I ask why you come here, you say just because
Could I live without it if I knew what it was
But it really dont matter when you look at me that way.

Regina, this, oh, this is beyond imagery and into perfection!
God, I love this. I absolutely love the wording, "pinwheel"
Oh, you have done it, girl.

THIS is perfection.  I love to find a poem like this, not only for
my own inspiration but to let me know my own skin is not
so bad!

Regina, this is wonderful. I'm keeping this one to remind that I should do the same. Seems like I've spent a lifetime trying to hide from ME! Love this.

Regina - You have such a wonderful perspective on your world, and the way you describe it.  Each poem of yours reminds me of the your friend, the bench, a poem I thoroughly enjoyed several times.

You write words of wisdom here, Regina.  Yes, me must all feel comfortable in our own skin.  Like you, I am content with mine.  A lovely write and one I'm keeping. *hugs*

Very good work.  I love seasonal progressions.  Many of your word choices are startling and surprise.  Just an enjoyable read.

Hello Regina
You paint so much beauty with your words and they flow like a tranquil stream.  It's so nice to see you here again as I hadn't seen you for a while.  I hope you're okay.
Take care.....Sue
