and it fills my soul with joy I'd thought I'd wanted a daughter but I love this new little boy chubby little feet full head of dark hair big bright eyes, already brimming with a little boy's mischievious stare "looks just like his mom", they all say and I cannot disagree for when looking at you, my dear lttle son my childhood self, looks back at me your innocence fills my heart with love and fills my eyes with tears this moment, I'll remember through all my living years later, as you sleep in my arms both of us in sweet repose looking again at your precious face I see your father's eyes, and yes you have his nose  copyright2001 Lyra Nesius "poetry is life distilled" Gwendolyn Brooks [This message has been edited by Madame Chipmunk (01-09-2002 12:52 PM).] |
