the coffee stain
      on your worn
           winter jacket
seems to tell me
        what you think of
the world-that it is
  cu~rvy along the edges
brown in the middle, stained
    by spilling over a few
       drops here
                 and         there
          not cleaning it up with
a dish rag
         yet permanent
the world-that it is
i and you here staying stain
tide turning will not remove it
       nor will it fade away
with soft downy action
