I used to wonder how it felt
to become a cartoon
of yourself...
the very thing that we
create becomes
our prison cell.

A handsome boy
of gentle heart--
he sipped elixir
of the gods.
Transforming him
into a God--
A King,
from Mississippi sod.

Adored by people
he didn't know,
You'd think he'd
never feel alone.
But no one knew
him very well.
He did not even
know himself.

I do not see a God--
no more--
just a neon man.
And yes, he lives.
I hope he knows,
that I understand.

For each of us
lampoon ourselves...
becoming parody--
a spotlight's heat
is hot as hell--
Elvis? Rest in peace.

I do not like the
commercialism that
has surrounded this
icon, but I do wish
he had been able to
live to see that his
music will never die...

(sigh) Sooooooo beautifully touching, sweet friend, I love the music of Elvis Presley and he too was very mysterious and fame can be such a mysterious thing that makes us feel like we don't even know ourselves, yet Elvis is a legend of rock and roll and will always be cherished! (kiss on cheek) Such a beautiful tribute, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Sol...I agree with you. It was thoughts of his family that inspired this. I was wondering how it must hurt, when a loved one happens to die a public persona, and to live your life, seeing them torpedoed by images in the media. It makes me sad....so I wrote this.

serenity - sad indeed about the great one. It's a shame that inside of him was also much sadness...

The King forever he will be.  Great praise to one of the most famous personalities of rock and roll.  Great poem Karen, I loved it!

Yes, this is sad, and I think he is not the only one it has happened to. Sigh. I did treasure him though. Will always remember where I was when I heard he had died.
Good one, Karen.
