And She Breathes ...

~*Marge Tindal*~

In she came, this grand of dame
Whispered to me, of her name
I am Felicity Dela Marcaesa
Will you speak my claim ?

She said I've memories to trace
yet I must hide in disgrace
So if you'll grant me spill of quill
I'll tell my story ... yes, I will~

I could only listen in reverent pause
as stories with me she shared
Caught up in the history
of a woman's wrongs now bared~

Far across the ocean
in another place and time
She came to seek, the will to speak
to me through her rhyme~

I have not known a gentle life
and thusly it is so,
my story will not cause a smile
for all the tears that flow~

I loved and was loved by one
who was not destined to be mine
For circumstance took him from my heart
and laid him in the brine~

Came he to me in darkest night
when all the world lay sleeping
I held him tender in my arms
to him willingly surrendered~

He was of blood so royal
as to cause blue to seek new hue
We loved with a love, surely blessed from above
but destined to fall short of our glory~

I could not stand by his side
in glaring light of day
So I did the next-best thing
and with him in the night did lay~

Little was known of our love affair
for many and many a fortnight
Then there came a chilling wind
that took him from my sight~

He wore the crown of Prince
and someone else sat his throne
I was cast in blasphemous past
of a love he once had known~

When in fail-of-health he called out
the name he said was mine ...
Felicity Dela Marcaesa
I've loved you for all of time~

But the scarlet of the letter
that fell upon my head
was borne in sorrow in my breast
for now my love was dead~

No more will I be glowing
in the sunset of his love
For all the reasons - through all the seasons
I'll know I wasn't enough ~

I will return to ask of you
that you speak of memories I have laid away
before I get too old to tell
the stories in my own way~

~*~

*I'm simply stunned at the revelations from this delicate muse*
She found me in a moment of quiet reflection in the meadows of my mind
~I hope I can do justice to the stories she has come to share~

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

What a way you have of telling such stories!  Gold flows from your pen to the page, a treasure for our discovery.

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Victoria~
Thank you ... she tiptoes softly in my ink~

InterLoper~
Thank you, love~

She came to me on cross of wind
and blew her story my way ...
asking only that I seek to splash some ink
on the things she wants to say~

Karilea~
Oh ... she has much to say ...
I need to make time to listen~

AngelBear~
Thank you for being drawn to my ink~
I appreciate that you found her thoughts as 'inspiring' as I have~

I'm going to figure this out no matter how many replies it takes!!!    :-)

This story and the words are truly amazing. The gift of giving and telling is one envied by myself and so many others. Keep listening to the words from the wind and writing them down. Hugs, Marti
