Son, tin clad houses stand no more
their hollow centers gutted sore.
Hydraulic shovels pick the apses,
like wounded soldiers they relapse.
Fire flashed through roofs, unhurt,
a neighborhood watch sounded an alert.
I gazed between the senseless wreckage
what was comfort became a cage.
What would lay in store for countless more
crying from windowsills galore
filled me
the burning saga instilled me.
Here is the cyclic master plan
to which all construction has no ban.
Planted fires burn and eat the unwanted
and their abandoned shells are flaunted
until the day we call in the crane,
to make our town appear more sane.
So they go up I'm told in synchrony,
a market fair at Tiffanies
We change houses like we do our shoes
the time comes when the market moves.
Senseless remains greet firemen crews
they tell of buildings we've abused,
pointing out the shambled homes in skews
so that we don't make the news.

This reminds me of my old neighborhood and how I hurt for the shape it is in now...

Its too bad this has to happen this way, Martin...but it sometimes unfortunately does.
There was a bed and breakfast that burned down, here in Kzoo on New Years Day.  It had been on the state's historic register...and was over 100 years old.  The only good part is that no one got hurt.
Thanks for sharing this one.

we have had landmarks being torn down too when the site is supposed to preserve such sites for 'cultural heritage'
