I stand inside a golden circle
counting fragments of time,
aching
for an outlet.

The moon shines on me as if
to hurl accusations through
every glow downward.

Still, I stay my ground,
waiting, I know I am not alone.

Writhing before me, with dagger
in hand you stand.  Your sudden touch
is dry stone and I draw back,
falling in the circle, burning.

With one flickering move, I lunge
forward, falling, rising and
choking on sobs, clawing,
grasping.....

"I shall take you with passion
unfurled across our paths,
you are enclosed, here, trapped.
Your soul drives a wedge
through all that I encircle
us with"

But across my lips, I vow
a holy vow
and gather the ashes
from the burning fire
encircling us,
for I know that only one
flesh shall remain pure.

I seize fragrments of time
calling them, damning
the ash, stirring a caldron
with unspeakable dreams
that pour from a pen
filled with the ink
from a private hell.
