Wrapped in a blanket of stardust
you arrived, that rainy August morn
innocent and trusting, our own firstborn

ten tiny fingers, ten perfect toes
lips like a rosebud
cute little nose

created of our passion, you are us
woven of our love
in a moment of lust

the epitome of our love for one another
forever, you are us
not just one, nor the other

through you, our us-ness will always be
through your children and theirs
through eternity

in you, our faces are one
our hearts beat as one
our legacy of love

our firstborn son

Wonderful touching poem. I love it. I wrote a poem here a while ago entitled "My only son"...though he is second born...

I really could relate to this....Christine

Lyra, you've written lovely tributes to your son before but this surpasses the others. Precious, heartwarming and wonderful to read. Cheryl

Thanks Larry, Eric was born on Aug. 25, 1969.
The winter before he was born was a very snowy one in NYC, where we lived at the time.....but I don't know if thats why he was born when he was.
Thanks for the reply.

Thanks Noah,  for the congratulations, but I think you misunderstood...probably because I never did say when he was born.  But my son wasn't just born......he was born 32 yrs ago.
Unfortunately, he died on July 8, 2000.  He is the one about whom my poem "The Stone" is written.

Thanks Victoria,
Both of my children turned out to be sons.
I still wish I had had one daughter....but now I have a couple of lovely daughters-in-law instead.

Lyra,
I hope you don't mind. This poem needs a "bump" and, I think, a link.
