My Little Girl

I will mask my true emotions
As my daughter’s wed
A smile will grace my visage
Hiding the tears I shed
She will always be my little girl
No matter what her age
Gifting memories I have saved
As we turned each new page
She has become a woman now
My little girl no more
Her life has new direction
New avenues to explore
I know that she has chosen well
This partner that she takes
Yet my eyes still blur in silent tear
My voice holds subtle quake
No, I have not lost a daughter
I have gained a son
Future memories to be gained
A new chapter begun
I wish for you the joy I’ve known
The love beyond compare
An eternity in each other’s arms
True happiness to share
This last verse is for you my son
Please heed my only plea
Take special care of my little girl
For she means the world to me

This is a great way to see it!  Your daughter isn't leaving you, but a new family member is coming.  New memories will be made and shared, great write and emotion.  I loved it ver much!

Beautifully done Brian!  This is something she will treasure I am sure...and, it came straight from Dad's heart.  Remember...she will always be your little girl though!

*sigh* oh yes, Brian, this one indeed made me cry....so good to see your wonderful poems...I love them and the magical way they always touch my heart. This heartfelt poem about your daughter is so very beautiful that it left me in tears of joy for her and tears of heartfelt sorrow for your having to give your daughter to another man. **big big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

(tears fall down my cheeks) God Bless You, sweet friend, these are the most beautiful words a loving father could ever give to his child on his or her wedding day! (big hugggssssss) She will never leave you, sweet friend, she will always love you so much and be family just as you will always love her! Congratulations, dearest friend, may she live a lifetime of true happiness! We all love you so much, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Brian, thank you for sharing!

Hi Brian, happy to see you here, too! And congratulations on your daughters marriage.
It is sad though, I had a similar feeling, except I knew my daughter was marrying someone who was not a good guy. That really hurt.
Sigh. You expressed these mixed feelings beautifully.

Brian...As hard as it seems to give away a daughter, you've just gained one more member of the family to love. I hope you have a splendid wedding with all the blessings of God poured down upon you.  ***Ivy Rose
