January Rain
By: Noah Eaton
1/7/01

Kneel down beside me
I swear now I'm juggling my troubles
Only time can measure
I'm venturing slow but I'm catching on
I'm dancing with your ghost and I am there
But it is so heartwreching getting here

When I walk beside the frozen lake
I fall into my grave, dreaming away
I'm reeling in the ghosts of my desires
Lost in a phlegmatic trance
Promise me you won't let me drown in loneliness
Don't let this fragile heart render

I'm running through the winter rain like a sad boy
Trying to find a puppy that ran away from home
Desperate to hang on to your hopes for your love
I'm pleading, waiting for your harbinger
Wanting to hold
Wanting to fold
Wanting to love you...

There's so much I want to say
I can't tango without you, come my way
I can't surmount these mountains through this January Rain
You're not outside to play...

You come cavorting through my mind once more
I sacrifice my reasons and I come praying
Crying for freedom, crying for comfort
Longing for you to come outside
And skip in the rain with me
And let these tears slide between our lips as we kiss
Share this fear that divides my heart to yours
While deep under these smoky quartz clouds
I am confined
Trying to spread these wings of ice
And wave my hands to your heart
This could get real messy...

I'm alone in this cold empty bed
Your photographs make you feel too close
What can I say?
What's this I dream for today?
I'm pleading, waiting for your harbinger
Wanting to hold
Wanting to fold
Wanting to love you...

You come cavorting through my mind once more
I sacrifice my reasons and I come praying
Crying for freedom, crying for comfort
Longing for you to come outside
And skip in the rain with me
And let these tears slide between our lips as we kiss
Share this fear that divides my heart to yours
While deep under these smoky quartz clouds
I am confined
Trying to spread these wings of ice
And wave my hands to your heart
This could get real messy...

My feet and frozen
My hands are chilled to the bone
I'm crying on my knees
Staring into these puddles on the lonely street
Lonely to wait for you
To come outside and play
Today in the rain...

OOHH Noah this is so sweet and so sad at the same time.  I am glad you have found true love to make you happy but to also sadden you through distances.  You wait my friend, you wait and your love will someday be in your arms, and it may be sooner than you really think.  This was written nicely, I loved it, I can see your vocabulary is far advanced like your poetry.

Brrrrr! As soon as I saw your title all I could was imagine icy rain. I could tell you that your poem is very sweet and poignant, but that would be an understatement. Nice work.

I can't help but feel this in my bones dear poet. This aches so badly. The lines cut clear through the reader. I truly hope you regain your light..your sunshine. Love and Hugs.

Sincerely,
Regina
