My Next Time

it’s too late
for me this time
but my
next time around
I’ll hold another
oh so tight
they will never
hit the ground
sing them
softly to sleep
watch them
as they dream
wake them
in passion
live every day
as a team
I’ll write them
love poems
my ink will
never run dry
even in
my anger
show love
in full supply
there is so much
I won’t neglect
to say
for next time around
I want
love to stay

"I have already paid for all my future sins."  Sade...(King of Sorrow)

Sad words, but hopeful, from your pen to my heart today.

I like this...written like a true veteran of a love war. A lot of strength and understanding in your words.

helen - Just wanted to say I’ve had the same thoughts.  You wrote about yours, and very well indeed.  May your ink never run dry, to write those love poems to someone special…

What wonderful thoughts.  I only want to know if you're planning on having more than one...

Doubt very seriously that it's "too late" as you say...not for most; especially not for you.

This is beautiful.  I echo those thoughts completely.  We learn and grow with experience.  My compliments, Helen.
