A Heart is a Heart

A heart is a heart, and a rose is a rose
Aheart is still fragile however it grows
It loses its grace in the seasons of time
Then blooms once again to its glorious prime

So tenderly rosebuds are nourished at first
Abundantly showered with loving at birth
When the arbor is full and the shoots thickly grown
It’s assumed that the rose can survive on its own

A heart’s like a rosebud, it beckons the eye
To know the full measure of beauty inside
But a rose is a rose and will always possess
Those fragile soft petals as velvety dress

So easily damaged and shredded apart
Please handle with care, for a heart is a heart

You present images of beauty so well, must be your rosebud heart.  Really liked this Sonnet, I think I’ll go out and buy a dozen roses.  Are the florist giving you any royalities?

Beautiful!
"A heart is still fragile however it grows"
I love this line. Even when a person thinks their heart has become so hard that nothing can get to them, they sometimes find out just how fragile it still is. Thank you for sharing this.

That is my favorite line from a poem that is absolutely beautiful and, well, heart spun and heart felt.  Nice job.

Elizabeth - Nice writing.  I liked the metaphors you used to draw the comparison.  Very good.

(sigh) Soooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, roses can wither but as long as we supply warmth and faith and love to the pedals, the rose is destined to blossom forever in its afterglow! (kiss on cheek) Soooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, you are a rose to us all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kathleen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

This is beautiful Elizabeth, and as soft and tender as a rose...or a heart. Such truth in this poem

No matter how strong one's convictions are a heart is still a heart, and so very tender.  What a wealth of knowledge in this little sonnet my dear Elizabeth.  A keeper this is for sure.

Liz, this is so wonderful and it has a catchy beat to it; it flows like honey off the tongue...like a song.  I love your message in this, you write of all things beautiful with grace and class.

This is a keeper!

Take care,
Melissa~
