I was born in England and raised in the USA.
Ive lived in Hawaii and Texas and Delaware..
i miss Delaware..that is where my heart is
my daughter lives in Hawaii and my son
in Michigan with their families.

I worry too much about my children.
Aways wondering how they are.
i am the oldest of five
lost my youngest sister when she
was twelve to cancer....i knew she was dying
and i named my daughter after her when she
was born....My two children were a
comfort to me when she died
ten months later.

I miss the little children i use to hike with
and swim with, i miss packing their lunches
and i miss their friends...the slumber parties
the baseball games and their hugs and kisses..
the  Saturday morning cartoons..Sunday night
Hardy boy shows The Brady bunch, and the monkies..
Davey was my daughters favorite. Maybe cause
her mom had English blood in her too ...*wink*

Each has two children...but rarely see them
except their voice on the phone..
Im sort of old fashion..but not a prude.
a little shy..

Admire women like Hillary Clinton.
and  i adore and admire Billy Graham.
What a wonderful man he is...truly a chosen man.

Im a homebody...i guess that is where
i feel the most comfortable.
My mom says i was my fathers favorite.
Maybe because he didnt see me for
the first eight or nine months of my life.
Maybe cause i  always kissed him when he walked in
the door from work. He was a handsome man
not a pound over weight..always looked neat, not
a hair out of place..He worked in a refinery
although if you would have seen him you would
think he was a detective..
always in a tan trench coat..looked like the
old movie star..Robert Taylor, or i guess
he could have passed for a flasher too ..ha...
that reminds me i was flashed once in Woolworths.
I made pretend i didnt notice..my sis was flashed alot
maybe i should have hung around with her more..

I grew up in a Catholic neighborhood
although i wasnt Catholic. One day
a nun across the street in the convent
asked me to take a walk with her, i didnt realize
i was going to end up at the
doctors office while she received
her physical..I thought she
would never come out. I was almost
in tears.. I guess
she must have had trouble with her habit..

I lived next door to a
Caucasian  minister. She preached
in an African American church.
Mrs Wadsworth ..she was also a seamstress
who fixed the first dress i made so i
could pass sewing class in junior high..

My mother and the five of us
went to church every Sunday
Walking across Market Street bridge
Reminded me of a duck and her
little ducklings..
but my father didnt..said he
was Methodist..his excuse for not going.

Im still best friends with my girlfriend Dianne
we have been friends since third grade.
We would smoke in her bathroom and sneak
into her grandmothers room
and talk on her phone..until she would come
and chase us out..
I havent smoked since.
Than we would go up the street to the firehouse
and eat all their pretzels..

I styled everyones hair in the neighborhood.
I guess i liked watching the barber cut my little brothers hair.
My mom would tell me to say “scissors on the side.”
Than i would sit and blush pretending i didnt see the girly books sitting next to me..

My other brother, a year and a half younger than me,
had a good sense of direction
unlike me who always got lost..he was a cute little thing
He looked just like my dad,but has been mentally ill
since twenty one..dad died a couple
years ago..before he died i told him i loved his cream puffs,
and we would all be together again one day...He was
sort of a loner..maybe thats why he always kept
a glass next to his chair..filled with crimson red..
A liquor store was on every corner..sort of
convenient for my dad..

My husband makes my coffee
and fills my car with gas..I look forward
to friday night Mexican dinners..I like Vegas.
The only place i really come alive...im a people
watcher..i just hang out in the casinos..just
take my jeans, nothing fancy..and just relax...just something about the atmosphere..you can just hang loose as they say in Hawaii..

I love the ocean but after three years in Hawaii
i got island fever as they call it and we left two years later..
While i was there my friends and I performed  hula shows
with a band for the retirement centers and nursing homes..
I guess you could say i had a captive audience.
I took ukulele lessons..but i was sort of nervous about
playing it..so when the time came to perform i made sure
my husband moved to Texas before the show..
I had my own ukulele..but now my grandson has it as
he takes lessons and loves playing..he was happy to get it..and
i was happy to give it to him..

I was inspired to write poetry in Hawaii..
ten years ago..publishing my first book last year.
Well as you can see im a poet
nothing more nothing less..
a wife and a mother and a nana.
and just plain ole me..and btw my name
isnt really Victoria..thats my granddaughters name.
Just my way of being close to her..

I loved reading your life story, Victoria...
Maybe we should have a "life story challenge"
I bet no one could do as well as you have.
You really made everything come alive.
The bad as well as the good!
I have a vivid picture in my mind, of every scene.
I laughed at this one.

"that reminds me i was flashed once in Woolworths.
I made pretend i didnt notice..my sis was flashed alot
maybe i should have hung around with her more.."

Great job, Victoria!(or whatever your real name is)
