Listening to every heart

0 posted 2002-01-05 11:48 AM

The Other Lives

There are long ago, distant, past times in me
Know heaven’s truth, there is more than one,
Of places lived, loves known in distant past,
Of feelings unsaid, deeds left undone.

When oceans span far to receive waves call
Or standing alone in medieval halls
When walking in moccasins of cured deerskin,
Or times this body was darker than currently in,

Memories flood deep through my resting soul
Perhaps, dreams be but déjà vu’s shoal,
Far back in time do deep memories roam
Shadowy spaces, faces, now calling me home.

Aboard a vessel roaming from shore to shore,
Knowing the heart of a pirate’s deep core
Vessel sailing, soaring breeze’s curry
Memories less vague, no longer blurry.

So, listen to a lone balladeer’s song,
When hoot owls joined in darkened belong,
When Greensleeves was first sung to her,
And memories warmed like a mulled liqueur.

Those times of roaming flatland grasses
Webbed history of winged ancestors passing
Being one with spirits, the wolf, and deer,
Compassionately, Great Spirit still lives here.

The sorrowful times of being owned whole,
Of carrying chained scars ’round body and soul
When spirituals were what encouraged my heart
This ancient history that I have taken part.

Listening to heartstrings, memories smooth,
Of long ago lives from us far removed ~
Not to listen would cause one disease,
For those memories now heard on a breeze.

In each of these long ago and faraway times,
My soul is warm from rich mulled wine
Entranced by the medley of these songs,
Within souls rejoice all memories belong.

(smiles) Sooooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, may we all find our way and breach the waves that draw us away from our memories and ship to shore where we will bask in the afterglow of their medley! "Perhaps, dreams be but déjà vu’s shoal,"
Somehow I don't think so!  Your telling of these times and tales are too vivid, and I wait for their telling through you!  Oh, I keep getting a new favorite, and suppose I will continue to get one.  Beautiful!
