If you could see me crying-
There'd be no denying...
The truth about the way I care for you.
If you could hear my sighing,
You'd know I was not lying-
That every single "I love you" was true.

While words may flow like rivers-
There's one which gives me shivers...
A word that seems to always make me cry.
It's one that breaks all fetters-
Containing seven letters...
I guess you've figured out, I mean "good-bye"?

The fault is mine, I reckon-
Like sirens, love does beckon...
And promises so much more than it holds.
And leaves you lost and lonely...
With your one and only-
When the tragic side of circumstance unfolds.

I'm vowing now forever...
I'll keep my heart and never...
Allow myself to dream another lie...
And never hurt another-
The way I hurt one other...
With the tragic little lie, I told- "good bye".

What's good about one leaving-
When they leave another grieving?
With tear stained cheeks, and red and swollen eyes...
Pillows wet from crying-
I guess there's no denying...
There is no such a thing as "good" good-byes.

I think its better to say goodbye sooner rather then later...before we get too attached...James

you are right there is no such thing as a good goodbye. Good job with this verse.

You've penned beautifully a very sad and painful emotion.  Just know that, goodbye does not always have to be bad.  If you've loved in truth and honesty but circumstance and details overwhelm, goodbye can be a mutual decision made out of love as much as forever is.

{{hugs}} and luck to you...

This is so true! There are no "good" goodbyes. Saying goodbye is so hard.

no goodbye is never good and neither are lies.  Enjoyed.

*sigh* good-byes are always painful to the heart to hear.....I think there is usually pain on both sides. You capture the pain of good-bye from your side very well. A poem to touch the heart. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

John....That is one of my worst and most
dreaded two words...I like this poem...It
reflects a lot of my own thoughts...
