Last night I watched the sidewalk quiver,
and spasm with God’s caress, through
tufts of moss in concrete cracks
chameleon in their finesse.
The trickle in the gutter gushed
over bricks that strove to rot -
to be washed away to sewers
to mud, to filth, to memories, to dust.

The trees like plastic Hollywood
were cramped by raised cement -
it seemed as if the guise of man
had failed to cover, to hide, to dent
the transcending love of the infinite
the crawling weed of the wine’s ferment.

Loved your imagery here, Craig...

The trickle in the gutter gushed
over bricks that strove to rot -
to be washed away to sewers
to mud, to filth, to memories, to dust

Great job!

This has some wonderful imagery. I loved the struggling mosses and the tree, refusing to give in to man's neglect and abuse.
