~ I Thought I Knew….. But Now I Do ~ I thought I knew what love was before I met you I believed I had loved that I knew love all through I didn’t know that it was possible to feel all of this Never before have I been affected by a simple kiss My head is full of dreams I’m flying through the air It’s because you show me that love is for us to share Love cascades around my soul in a torrent of delight It fills me, washes over me, in a bath of liquid light I had been around and I thought I knew loves touch I believed foolishly that I didn’t need it very much I never understood it’s allure, love couldn’t fool me My eyes were closed and with my soul I didn’t see I had no need to sob, my heart would stay sane Fool that I was I thought I could play loves game I believed that I would be uninvolved and still free Now love has come and schooled ignorant little me I know that love lives in you and so it lives in me I see love, it is revealed in its shinning beauty The world becomes transformed it shines so bright And I shine too I am filled with loves clear light No fears can summon me from this place here I’ll stay Until the stars grow dark and there is no more day When the air catches fire and the seas dry to dust Then and only then will this pure love turn to rust Marsha To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace St John ch2 v1 |
