Heartbreaktown
By: Noah Eaton
1/3/01

You were still
You were gone
You were jaded
You were lost
You became dirty
A soiled dove
You were a sunrise
Without a destiny or love

I hope you come around
I remember you used to speak so easy
Now you're afraid to talk to me
My heart goes out to you

In the city limits of Heartbreaktown
The ferris wheel is sleeping and tumbledown
What can we say to our children this time?
How can I urban-renewalize?
There has to be a lodestar in the sky tonight

You were free
Out of sight
You were quiet
Terrified
You were blind
I couldn't see
You were raped of innocence
You were bleeding

Here in the slums of Heartbreaktown
There are hoodlums on the street and the carnivals singing aloud
Will I ever see you again anyhow?
I don't know where you're going yet
But I pray you'll find out

Lights off, walking on broken glass
Treading on the remnants of your broken past
You're over my head again tonight
Reaching out to you while you're all alone
I hear you crying over the telephone
You're over my head again tonight

She's always on my mind
I can hear her cry
I can hear her cry tonight
Christ, all this time I've tried
I can hear her cry
I can hear her cry tonight

Lights off, walking on broken glass
Treading on the remnants of your broken past
You're over my head again tonight
Reaching out to you while you're all alone
I hear you crying over the telephone
You're over my head again tonight

You say you can't grow
You say you've gone cold
All I know
Is I'm always here for you
You say you can't grow
You say you've gone cold
All I know
Is I'm always here for you

You've ran away
In disarray
You've ran away...
In disarray...

Noah darling boy, YOU'VE just joined the crying list for sure

I have tears rolling down my face, HOW can you do this to me? Hmmmm?

Wonderful writing, please don't make me sob anymore. I love the poem but it's so sad

Aw, NOah such a sad poem, something which I don't see very much from you.  Your heart is always filled with so much love, so much to spread around the world many times over.  It saddens me to hear of your sadness.  I hope soon you will be in high spirits again, with kind and loving care.  The poem here was beautifully written, I could see everything happening with your imagery.  Great writing here Noah!

Heartbreaktown is a sad town to be stuck in indeed

Noah,
"I don't love you anymore!" You made me cry as you raised these echoes of my past.

Your compassion breaks my heart

My perception of truth will somehow never quite be the same..and so I write.

Noah, this is so incredibly sad....I enjoyed it a lot, it read to me almost like a song would be sung.  Very lyrical.  Wonderful writing, keep it up, dear one!

I resided in heartbreaktown for too long and I can only hope that the stay will be brief...perhaps just a short stay in the heartbreak hotel...James
