Treasures of the troll be shadowed
by the glint of perverse grin--
It's not enough to own the most.
He needs to have it all to win.

He wants all the world to plead--
kiss his rings on beggar's knees--
there is no end to his vile greed.
And he believes that he owns me.

Moss grows from the cobbled bridge.
no welcome door to where I live.
There I'm tethered, underneath,
with golden chains to bind my feet.

Yet where I am, there he must be--
thus he is not as free as me.
For I have travels in my mind
where silence is my symphony.
There's nothing living in my eyes--
behind gray veil--that's where I hide.
He sniffs at me suspiciously.
"Where did you find serenity?"
Now I smile most tranquilly.
I found the door that set me free.
It has no locks nor even key--
the exit is inside.

Very nice poem,
but gold chains? I would have thought the troll would have used rusty iron.
But it seems it wouldn't have mattered
since you already knew where the escape was.

You send a good message here, to be the best doen't always give you peace.  However I find myself acting as the troll, being so competitive in my nature, but I have that serenity, so I feel at peace.  Great write, I enjoyed it very much!

Both the exit and entrance are, indeed, inside.
Just a beautiful idea that was well presented!

(smiles) Whew, I'm so happy I've located the exit too, for true happiness can never be found from avarice or jealousy, but from being happy with what you are deep down! (kiss on cheek) Sooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, wisdom flows from your golden heart always, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Serenity darling girl You know that this is utterly wonderful don’t you, the flow and the metre are just perfect

As for the escape thank the LORD for it. We all have our own keys but sometimes we forget how to turn it.

Wonderful writing as always
