Broken Embers

Passions played but soon forgot
dancing flames that fed and fought
and in its mist, all a glow
broken embers ... that would show

Natural ... who would have thought
that such desire burns to hot
Crackling heat of hearts that wood
broken embers ... understood

Crumbling ... falling apart
left behind its burning heart
soon to die as sparks are tossed
broken embers ... a love lost

Why must the heat burn so hot,
only to have the embers smolder and die.
If not for the warmth then why build the fire?
'tis a mystery to me!!

I enjoy your emotion that you put into your poetry.

Happy New Year Ctowen~

Lauren -
Didn't mean to tear you up ...
but I will settle for your hugs and
the warm blanket of peace any day!

BS -
The object is to keep the embers burning ...
some relationships seem to run out of this fuel well before starting ...
I share your thoughts, "why start?"
I guess the spark has to go somewhere.

Sue -
Thank you for reading and commenting.
I am glad you enjoyed.
Please take care as well.

Karen -
My heart needs overflow somewhere ...
I am glad that it can atleast be shared.

Oh my, this is so much the way I feel about life, and the way things burn out, so often on one side before the other.
